I grew up in the United Arab Emirates as the child of Syrian Immigrants and studied Visual Communication at the American University in Dubai on a full scholarship, something that would not have been possible for me without financial support. I played basketball for the university team for many years with a lot of passion, and when I started filming the team during training sessions and games as part of a seminar, I discovered my fascination for telling stories with images.

In 2019, I received a cinematography scholarship at the MET Film School and was able to move to Berlin. At Vantage Film Berlin, I first learned the fundamentals of cameras the equipment that comes along with it and then worked as a lighting technician on various feature film, commercial, and music video sets, which gave me a solid understanding of light, teamwork, and set etiquette. These experiences led to my first projects as a DoP in Europe and the Middle East, including working with Oscar-shortlisted director Dania Bdeir, as well as commercials for brands such as Diesel and production companies like Electric Lime and Silk Rock. In 2024, one of my documentary projects, “Forged in Flames,” shot on 16mm film, was released on the online platform Nowness.

I am currently completing my cinematography studies at the Film University Babelsberg KONRAD WOLF and am continuously working on my visual voice. Short films are especially important to me, as they create space for close collaboration and allow me to tell stories that are personally meaningful to me. Telling stories in through short, concentrated forms has become a central part of my passion for cinematography, with the hope of bringing these approaches to longer formats in the future. Basketball remains a quiet influence in the background; what I learned there about better communication in a team helps me enormously as a DoP to work more clearly and effectively on set.
