Eyad Alshaar is a cinematographer rooted in a love for storytelling through images. Born to Syrian parents and raised in the UAE, Eyad’s multicultural upbringing offers him a perspective that is both layered and distinct, shaping his approach to every project. Since relocating to Berlin in 2019, he has forged a creative path between Europe and the Middle East, always chasing those moments where human connection comes into focus.
From the age of 14, Eyad had a deep passion for basketball, drawn not just to the sport but to the experience of working together as a team pushing toward a shared goal. The lessons he learned as both a leader and team player in basketball have been invaluable in his cinematography career, where collaboration and trust are key. That same strong passion and love for basketball gradually shifted toward making images when the camera found him at 18, igniting his journey into visual storytelling.
For Eyad, the magic of cinematography lies with the people, both in front of and behind the camera. He gravitates toward collaborative environments, finding comfort and inspiration working closely with directors, producers, and fellow creatives. Whether the project involves still photography or moving images, Eyad pursues an honest, human touch in every frame, emphasizing transparency and real dialogue throughout the process.
Eyad thrives on creative exchange, especially with collaborators who share his appetite for experimentation. He is at home working across different formats, from digital to the tactile world of 35mm and 16mm film, where the physicality of each frame adds another level of craft.
Fluency in Arabic, English, and German allows him to move fluidly between cultures and storytelling traditions, bringing a global sensibility to his work. Most of all, Eyad values telling meaningful stories alongside good people, seeking not just artistic achievement but genuine connection that lasts beyond the screen.
